Victoria Elks – Events Manager
I am currently studying a Bachelor in Tourism Management at Edith Cowan University and I am due to finish my studies at the end of 2009. I joined YATA as a member in 2008 to increase my industry knowledge and awareness. After being a member for one year, I also joined the committee as the ECU student representative and the Event Coordinator. The skills I have learnt so far in my role at YATA have been very beneficial in helping me to progress into the area I want to pursue after graduating.
The events I have attended through YATA have helped me to increase my communication skills in a professional manner, and believe this will help me in the future and in my career in Tourism. YATA has provided me with networking opportunities and organisational skills. I also obtained work experience with the Australian Hotels Association as the event coordinator in the lead up to the Hospitality Expo. I hope that all members will be able to benefit as much as I have with all YATA’s events and opportunities.
