YATA is looking at the possibility of hosting a Tourism Conference in June 2010 for young tourism professionals and tourism students in Perth. This exciting event will be held at Burwood on the 3rd June 2010.
At present, YATA is looking for support for this conference in terms of guest speakers, ideas and sponsorship of the event.

Be a step ahead in the industry with the YATA mentor program!
The YATA mentor program gives tourism students and young professionals an opportunity to meet regularly with a senior professional in the industry. Focus groups have found that due to the financial situation tourism students and young tourism professionals are finding it difficult to develop their careers and find jobs. YATA members are also lacking the direct contact with the industry to provide them with advice on tourism career paths and opportunities. The YATA mentor program has been developed for these reasons to assist young tourism students and professionals.
Mentors and mentees will be matched according to expertise and interest so the experience is sure to be valuable. The minimum time commitment is to meet once a fortnight for one hour for the duration of the program (a total of four one hour meetings).
The benefits of being involved in the mentor program and meeting one on one with your mentor:
Learn from your mentor’s experience in the industry;
Receive information, support and advice;
Network and gain industry connections;
Become market ready, helping you transition from study into the workplace or progress in your career;
Discuss your career goals and aspirations;
Ask questions and discuss current issues in the industry.
These benefits will give you an advantage over other students, graduates or colleagues.
